Moûtiers is known as the gateway to the 3 Valleys ski resorts, and also has links to Paradiski and Valmorel. It is an attractive and interesting town that has many historical and cultural features, with the river Isère flowing through its centre.  The town benefits from a pleasant climate and features snow in the winter and glorious sunshine in the summer. There are many leisure activities to enjoy, apart from the alpine sports in the winter, including swimming (outdoor and indoor), mini golf, rafting and other white-water sports. There are hot springs in the nearby spa town to be enjoyed too, and there are numerous festivals held in and around town throughout the year.

La Plagne is in the Savoie department of the Alps and is one of the largest ski resorts in Europe. It has more than 120 ski runs catering for all levels of ability. It is also linked to the popular resort of les Arcs by cable car, so both resorts are within a few minutes of each other. All of the ten villages that comprise La Plagne have good access to one another and contain many other activities aside from skiing and snowboarding. These include bowling, walking trails, hang-gliding, quad biking, gym/fitness training, paint balling and even bobsleighing. Après ski is provided by a multitude of restaurants, bars and nightspots, which offer something for everyone.

The closest international airports are at Lyon and Geneva, with Chambéry an option during the alpine season.

Eurostar offers a direct train service to Bourg St Maurice or Moûtiers, which are both easily accessible. There are excellent road links to all villages in the resort.
