The resort of Valmorel was built in the 1970’s across the Maurienne and Tarentaise valleys. It was built specifically to look and feel like a traditional mountain village and features a pedestrianised main street with hamlets gathered around it and along the lower slopes. It has more than 80 slopes with access to many more in the other Le Grand Domaine ski resorts. In all, Valmoral has 152km of downhill pistes and 20km of cross-country trails, ideal for off-piste skiing and snowboarding.

There are numerous cafes, bars and restaurants along the traffic-free main street, as well as a cinema and a nightclub.

Geneva, Lyon and Grenoble airports, all just a couple of hours away, serve the resort.

The A43 motorway is just 45 minutes away along the N90 main valley road. The TGV station is in Moûtiers, just 20 minutes away.
